I wanted to share one of those objects with an artist, so that they can create a new model on top of that model, so I exported the fbx from Unity using one of the Unity fbx exporter assets. However, the model was exported without any textures and so it looked pretty much white as a whole. Therefore, the artist cannot really work on a model that includes textures and also send me back the finished work with those textures. Assign your material in the source package, make sure there is a baked texture in the diffuse slot.

Spyros Spyros Just send the textures with the model to the artist. Put the model iwht its textures in the-same folder and send. All the artist has to do is create new material and then plug the correct textures to the right spot.

Yes you can use the above script and also GameDraw provides this functionality plus if you plan to do some modifications,add new geometry or even optimize the scene you can use it for that. Export OBJ works on most mesh. I had to export a terrain as well which it didn't work on, but I was able to export the height map for the terrain in the terrain settings and convert it to a jepg in photoshop. I then used this in max on a sub divided plane with a displace modifier and the newly exported height map.

Since FBX format is the default import format for Unity, it should also support exporting to that format. I've been working with games for a long time now, and there is always a lot of times where being able to get something from the game engine back into a 3D package very useful if not necessary.

For example building custom mesh colliders, mesh for particle emission etc. Obj is an ancient format and doesn't work with vertex colors.

Unity is a tool, and good for procedural mesh generation, which can be very useful for creating geometry for a game or something else creative.
